
The 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the Convention on International Trade In Endangered Species (CITES) took place in Doha, Qatar, from 13 to 25 March 2010. As well as reviewing decisions on trade rules for plant and animal species, parties were invited to vote on strategic matters concerning the Convention.
A draft resolution was put forward by the CITES Secretariat on synergy with biodiversity -related international initiatives. The resolution highlighted the need for continued engagement with the 2010 BIP and a draft decision was put forward for continued support to the Partnership. The decision was later accepted by consensus.
CITES is a key indicator partner of the 2010 BIP and leads on the development of the Status of Species in Tradeindicator.
