A 'biodiversity marker' has been developed by the OECD / Development Assistance
Committee (DAC) and the CBD Secretariat to monitor activities targeting the
objectives of the Convention. Data have been assembled for 1998-2000, and the
marker is expected to continue to be used until at least 2009. Trends over time
should therefore be identifiable. The indicator can be applied to national and
regional levels.
