The 2010 BIP has contributed to the 2010 Millennium Development Goals (MDG) Report on international progress towards the MDG-7 target to reduce the rate of biodiversity loss. The report features two indicators developed by the 2010 BIP; the ‘proportion of terrestrial and marine areas protected’ (Coverage of Protected Areas and overlays with biodiversity)’ and the ‘proportion of species threatened with extinction ‘(Red List Index). Both show that the world has failed to meet the 2010 target. More..
